Roggia Farm is the result of a unique idea, much love and personal effort made by us & various members of the County of Thinali in Corfu during the last four years. The County of Thinali belongs to the larger area of North Corfu. The team leading the county assisted our work by local funding as well as with a European programme called Leader+ encourages development in farming locations that are representative of the natural beauty of an area and have potential to offer a tourist product that not only respects the local environment & remains low key but also offers high quality facilities to its guests. During the last 30 years, the area of Roggia was gradually abandoned. There is no building development in the area. Our farming is based on old traditions and this, combined with serenity of the area, makes our clients think that they come back in time. We respect time and what it does in our lives. With this in mind, we aim at developing something that respects the past but is also sustainable. There were no original buildings or any type of original work stations in the farm. The only thing we inherited were mature, but full of life, olive trees and of course our fertile land. The few newly built houses we added offer modern facilities and comfort inside, but blend into the existing serene environment on the outside. We believe our building intervention did not change dramatically the scenery of Roggia, on the contrary, it added new aura and fresh life to the area. Roggia farm is located in the most central point of the Corfu’s northern inland, it is located on a low hill and is surrounded by many low hills that link to the Nymphes plain. The farm’s location is a benchmark for the area. By staying in our farm, you will enjoy uninterrupted panoramic views of the inland and feel a rare feeling of space that gets combined with complete privacy. The surrounding area has a range of traditional villages such as Nymfes, Xathates, Aghioi Douli, Agrafi, Kavalouri, Sfakera. All the surrounding area is lush with many hidden treasures such as rivers, gorges, olive groves, private gardens, monasteries, abandoned churches, springs and other architectural and historic monuments. The sea is not that far way with quaint coastal villages but also more commercial resorts such as Roda, Acharavi & Sidari. So do not hesitate to ask for recommendations on magical days out in the surrounding area, if you are a visitor in our farm. Staying at the farm is a real must for all, regardless the age, families or couples.
