Casa della Pia: Set in a medieval building in Massa Marittima’s centre

Casa della Pia is on the second floor of the Pannocchieschi Palace, Via della Libertà N°15, in the historic center of Massa Marittima and a short walk from the Cathedral of San Cerbone. In the medieval part of the palace used to live Pia de’ Tolomei, wife of Nello Pannocchieschi, from which the accommodation facility took its name. Located in a historic building and in a family atmosphere, Casa della Pia has very particular characteristics, other than those offered by great  international hotels: no private parking and elevator, but with the warm atmosphere of the old houses and an Italian-style breakfast to consume at any time, offer in the Café below, in contact with the life of the village.

THE ROOM
It is a unique accommodation, with a completely separate room and an en suite bathroom. Recently refurbished with eco-sustainable criteria, it is decorated with works of art, antique and contemporary furniture and a king size FLOU bed, complete with linen sheets and double pillows. 

The room is equipped with all the facilities: free wi-fi, TV, intercom, kettle and tableware (with coffee and a choice of tea and herbal tea), refrigerator, floor heating; as an extra service, in winter you can light a fire in an old and typical fireplace to create an even more romantic atmosphere. Breakfast is included, served at the café below. On request, we can add a single bed or a crib. The room is a non-smoking area. Only on request, small pets are allowed; there may be a charge for extra cleaning in this case.

 
THE BATHROOM
You can get in, straight from the room by a wooden staircase. It has a very peculiar structure, which combines the most modern facilities with classical settings. It is equipped with high-quality bathroom fixtures and accessories (sink, toilet and bidet), a basin and a shower, electric towels heather and hairdryer. It is equipped with soap dispensers and shower gel.

 
THE LANDSCAPE
The location of the room is very peculiar: despite of its being situated in the city centre, it overlooks the wide and open landscape of the Tuscan Maremma; on a clear day, you can see the Tyrrhenian Sea and the islands of the archipelago, particularly fascinating sunsets and, in spring, the flight of swallows.. This position, combined with the structure of a building made of stone, turns the room into a quiet and peaceful place.

MASSA MARITTIMA
Arriving in Massa Marittima, you can enjoy the beauty of the medieval village, with its unique monuments and the charming old town. At the same time you can choose and enjoy the sea and the lake, good food, wine, the thermal baths, nature, sports, ...Lying on top of a sunny hill, close to the coast, the climate of Massa Marittima is mild. By bus you may either arrive at the train station of Follonica or Siena. By train you can easily reach Pisa, Florence, Rome, and other cities.
