Our Tuscan Kitchen
Le Pianore is a place for all seasons and this is reflected in our kitchen. We use seasonal produce grown in our own organic vegetable gardens, along with locally sourced, organic goods wherever possible.
Within our family we have two vegetarians, one serious sweet tooth, a health nut, a dedicated carnivore, and one chronic sufferer of lactose intolerance. So we know about diverse needs and how to make everyone feel nourished and loved! Our guests are all different too, and we enjoy that!
We are able to cater for vegans and carnivores alike and will be sure to make people with food allergies feel especially looked after.
Catering Options: You can choose from a range of dining options: from breakfast only to full board, with spartan lunches or full sunday brunches. Write to us to receive our information booklet with all the details.
Cooking Classes: Learn to make pasta like nonna during a relaxed and informal cooking class right here in our country kitchen. We create the menu together according to your personal tastes and you can enjoy the fruits of your laboured accompanied by a glass of our easy-drinking, organic red wine.
Our Produce
Tuscany is truly the land of milk and honey: oil and wine have been produced here for over a 1000 years. Our extra virgin, organic olive oil is a smooth and fragrant blend of the prized local olivastra seggianese and other varieties. And from our 1,3 hectare vineyard of Merlot and San Giovese grapes, tended to with lots of love and no chemicals, we produce a full-bodied, easy-drinking, organic red wine which we call Tiniatus: the Etruscan name for the god of the Amiata.
Our organic vegetable garden is a constantly evolving festival of color and flavor. At times it floods our kitchen with more fresh food than we can cook in a day, in a week! So we pickle and preserve and find ways to make our favourite flavours last throughout the year: we make tomato puree, marinated baby courgettes with their flowers, stuffed sweet peppers, pickled “friggitelli” peppers, an assortment of sweet and savoury jams (our mulberry jam has become a classic), as well as elderflower cordial and walnut wine.
It’s an ever growing list and much of what we make is for sale to guests staying at our Agriturismo.
Villa Rental
The villas are immersed within a 50 ha estate of rolling hills, vineyards, groves and woodlands. Having no immediate neighbours means we have total privacy, and no noise restrictions or curfew; making it an ideal venue for a retreat or a special celebration such as a wedding or birthday. The gardens are a playground for adults and children alike: lime, oak and cherry trees provide shade, while lavender and thyme, roses, jasmine and broom perfume and enliven the landscape. Dip into our swimming pool for respite from the midday heat and enjoy lounging on the deck chairs until sunset, watching the sky turn red and feeling the cool evening air descend.
Villa Campostefani
Campostefani is the guest villa with ten spacious bedrooms. The rooms have traditional terracotta floors, deliciously cool underfoot in summer, and almost all have en-suite bathrooms and direct access to the gardens. The master bedroom has a private terrace.
The historic barn, converted into a quaint two-story cottage with en-suite bathroom and stunning views from the bedroom balcony, is practically an independent villetta with its own kitchen and living area.
There are several living areas, both indoors and out, with ample room for guests to make themselves at home. There is wi-fi for all to enjoy, a small library to peruse at your leisure and a satellite television in the upstairs family room.
Villa Maladina A leisurely ten minute walk along a cypress-lined avenue separates Campostefani and Maladina, the two villas that comprise this historic homestead (the earliest foundations date back to the 12th century). Villa Maladina is our country home, it’s where our four children grew up. We are always happy to invite our guests to enjoy a coffee with us after theyr walks in the property!
