18th century farmhouse offers an outdoor pool

Hotel Rural Quinta de Novais is located in the heart of Arouca Geopark, with Arouca Monastery and near the "Serra da Freita" and "Parideiras stones" and "Frecha da Mizarela", the Paiva River and its rapids and "Passadiços do Paiva", the museum of Trilobites.

The regional cuisine is one of the strengths of the region (arouquesa veal and convent confectionery sweets). 

The Hotel offers its guests a wide area of ​​active recreation, including swimming pool, gym, jacuzzi and golf (pich'n'put).

We have at your disposal 16 rooms, restaurant, meeting room, gym, pool, jacuzzi, golf (pich'n'put) and outdoor activities (hiking, mountain biking, rafting, canyoning, climbing and slide).

Arouca

Arouca is the centre of the municipality. It has grown in the Monastery's shadow, which used to be a Convent in the distant past. Today it shelters one of the most important museums of Portuguese Sacred Art.

Arouca, which stretches over an area of about 380 km², offers a group of small countryside villages scattered on hills and valleys, crossed by small rivers (namely the Paiva River, famous for its white waters).

The Freita Ridge Mountain, with the Mizarela waterfall and the "Pedras Parideiras" in the South, the old mines of wolfram on the eastern side, the Montemuro mountain to the North and the view and smell of the sea on the western side, surround this unique valley.

Rooms

Sixteen double bedrooms: six in the east wing and the remaining ten in the south wing, divided in four different decorative environments. All have private balconies, air conditioner, television, telephone and access to Internet.

Outside Visit

... almost 25.000m², has a great area of chestnut, oak and cork trees, which, along with the green space, the flowering garden and the Freita Ridge Mountains in the horizon, turns it into a delightful spot.

The granite walls, the warmth of the fireplace and the comfortable decoration will offer you the suitable environment for reading, appreciating a fine wine or simply to enjoy a long and quiet talk.

The Hotel Rural Quinta de Novais has to offer an active leisure space that includes swimming-pool, gymnasium and jacuzzi, located in a place where you can look at the valley of Arouca and the Freita Ridge Mountains.

The restaurant

The dining-room, which locates where the old wine cellar used to be, is wide for the thirty two seated places. It has a huge window on the east wall, air conditioner and a fireplace. In here you can appreciate, taking your time, some of the regional delicacies: veal, kid, smoked meats and regional desserts.
