Description
This is a spacious, split-level villa on a large plot within Menorca's "S'Albufera Parc Natural". It has superb views across open countryside to a bird sanctuary lake and to the sea. There are unspoilt beaches about a mile from the villa, which has its own 8m private swimming pool.

S'Albufera is a select, low-density development set in beautiful countryside in part of the Parc Natural about 5 miles north of Mahon (Mao), the capital of Menorca. There are bars and restaurants in the nearby picturesque fishing village of Es Grau.

Es Grau bay, with its sandy beach and shallow water, is ideal for children. Sand dunes and pine woods, full of singing nightingales and migrant birds in spring and autumn, separate the beach from the Albufera. Rocks along the shore of the bay provide opportunities for snorkelling. Windsurfing and kayaking are popular, as are the boat trips which can take you to yet more sandy beaches on the nearby Isle of Colom.

The villa is ideally situated for those seeking a Mediterranean holiday in unspoilt surroundings, away from the crowds, yet it is within easy reach of the local amenities. It will be especially appreciated by walkers, with the recently opened Cami de Cavalls - a coastal path around the entire Island - nearby. Also by birdwatchers - 97 species of birds have been seen from the villa, including 16 birds of prey.

The casa is a spacious villa which can accommodate 6 to 7 people and has stunning views in all directions. The accommodation comprises:

Master Bedroom with double bed and en suite shower room, opening onto a small east-facing sun terrace with views to the sea. Additional single sofa bed.
2nd bedroom with twin beds
Bathroom
A further bedroom with bunks and wash basin
Large lounge with a natural stone fire place and a portable DVD player
The villa opens onto a south-facing patio with large parasol leading to the 8m swimming pool
Dining area, opening onto the barbecue terrace, with sunset views
Spacious Kitchen with a fridge/freezer, dishwasher, gas cooker, microwave and washing machine, gas hob
Additional small drinks fridge
Exposed beams in all rooms
All of the bedrooms face south-east and offer fine views

The villa was built for the present owners on land purchased in 1971 and has been substantially upgraded in recent years.

The house is serviced by an English-run local villa management company, Todo Villas. Their services include the provision of a food pack on arrival and, for bookings of 2 or more weeks, a weekly change of bed linen and towels. Please take your own beach towels.
Direct flights from Gatwick take about 2 hours. The villa is a 15 minute drive from Mahon (Mao) airport. Car hire is essential. We always use, and recommend 'Doncars'.

Payment Policy
This rental is inclusive and is based on an occupancy of 4 persons and for a let of 2 or more weeks. Please add 5% per each additional person above 4 and add 10% for bookings of less than two weeks, except when filling a gap. Because of the wider choice of flights these days, there is no regular changeover day. Please try to arrange your booking to fit in with exisiting bookings. We are always willing to discuss your requirements. Please call - we'd be happy to try and accommodate your plans. Previous guests, some of whom return year after year, will be given a discount. Although the villa can accommodate 6-7 people, many guests are couples who enjoy the spaciousness. The hire of a car is strongly recommended. This can be arranged at competitive rates for advanced bookings, through a reliable company. Please contact us for details.

I saw the ferry crossing the bay a couple of times all lit up, was amazing. We saw the lovely barn owls while we were swimming...

We visited Casa Aguila for the second time in August 2019. We are a family of 5 (2 adults, 2 teens and a 12 year old) It is the perfect 'get away from it all' holiday. The villa has plenty of room and a nice pool. The scenery is just lovely, the peace and quiet is perfect and the star-gazing is just superb!! Menorca is the most beautiful and friendly island with something for everyone. We have already booked our family holiday at the villa for 2020 and can't wait to return.
