Description
The house is an old Catalonian Masia restored in 2005. The restoration was completed using original local materials. All the characteristic features of this typical rural Catalonian architectural style were maintained during the rehabilitation process.

The result of the restoration work is a charming and peaceful guest house, perfect for enjoying nature and an unbeatable setting with all modern day conveniences – central heating in all rooms, hot water, double glazing, dishwasher, television, garden area with barbecue, covered parking, public swimming pool 5 minutes away, etc.

The house consists of a ground floor and two independent accommodation sections. The ground floor, shared between all guests, formerly the stables, has a reading room, wine cellar and drawing room for conversation and games, with a cosy and stunning chimney place located in the former war-time hideout.

On the first floor we find 100 m2 of independent accommodation for four people, consisting of a suite, a double bedroom, a bathroom with hydro massage bath, an ample kitchen, dining room and small drawing room with a fire place. On the second floor you can find another 100 m2 accommodation section sleeping a maximum of 10 people, consisting of two double rooms, a twin room and a children’s room. There are two fully equipped kitchens with ceramic hob and dishwasher, a large dining room and a quite drawing room with a fire place. All bathrooms are fully equipped with shower and bath.

Surrounding area

The house, at an altitude of 1120 m above sea level , is surrounded by mountains and landscapers of natural interest, close to the villages of Gombrèn and la Pobla de Lillet, where you can enjoy splendid views of the Catllaràs hills and Pedraforca.

The legendary Count of l’Arnau, originally from Gombrèn, left innumerable places to visit, such as the ruins of his castle, the “Forat, de Sant Hou” tunnel, the “Gorga dels banyuts” gorge, and the museum which bears his name. Not forgetting of course a visit to the Montgrony Sanctuary and its Romanesque church, where you can find a splendid place of prayer and thought.

In Pobla de Lillet you can visit some of Gaudi’s lesser known architectural jewels, the Artigas gardens, an exceptional spot, and the “xalet del Gatllaràs” designed by Gaudí and built by engineers from local coal mines.

In Castellar de N’Hug, you can find the famous Fonts del Llobregat the source of the river Llobregat. The natural beauty spots Núria, Vall Ter and La Molina are also close by.

Activities

NATURE

Enjoy the natural setting and nearby woodland, including wild mushrooms, deer and wild boar which can be found around the house. In September, be sure not to miss the Berrea del ciervo (Roaring of red deer during the mating season) – it is unforgettable!

HIKING

Close to the house, there are paths for following different walking and hiking routes, heading for Montgrony, Castellar de N’Hug, Sant Jaume de Frontanyà, etc.

SPORTS

Skiing at Molina-Masella (40km), at Núria (22 km) and at Vall Ter (50 km), Mountain climbing (the Coll de Merolla climbing shack is 1 km away, where there is a specialist climbing instructor), Cycle routes, Golf at Camprodon (one hour’s drive), horse riding.

CUISINE

You will find local restaurants serving typical food from the Ripollès district. Be sure to make a gastronomical visit to Cal Xesc and “Portal del Compte” in Gombrèn.

CULTURE

You can see Romanesque arte in Ripollés and Berguedà; visit the Conde l’Arnau Museum, the Ripoll Museum, the Cement and Transport Museum in Castellar de N’Hug, and the Montgrony and Núria Sanctuaries.

How to arrive

120 km from Barcelona , you can reach us via two different routes:

1: Take the C-17 (former N-152) to Campdevànol, then head for Gombrèn. After passing Gombrèn, 6.9 km along the road, we find the road leading to the house, signposted with its name. The house is 200 m from the main road (recommended route).

2: Take the Llobregat truck road heading for the Cadí tunnel until reaching Guardiola de Berga. Continue in the direction of Pobla de Lillet, and 10 km after Pobla heading for Gombrèn we find the road leading to the house, signposted with its name. The house is 200 m from the main road.
