Description
The location of Achnabobane Farmhouse provides an ideal central base for exploring The Highlands to best advantage. Even journeys covering the length and breath of Scotland can be achieved from Achnabobane - with plenty of time to spend when you get to your chosen destination, within reason of course. Previous guests have travelled as far north as Thurso and Castle of Mey and even across to Edinbugh, although they do admit the Islands, except Skye, are a little more tricky to 'do' in a day!

Or take the Road to the Isles (A830) northwest from Fort William to end at the fishing port of Mallaig. This is one of Scotland's most scenic routes, with both road and the famous West Highland Steam railway (of Harry Potter fame) running through a region of rugged grandeur. An absolute 'Must' for any Motorcyclist.

Along the way, why not stop off at Glenfinnan where the monument commemorates Bonnie Prince Charlie's uprising stands in a setting of incomparable scenic beauty. Opposite Loch Sheil and the monument, is the now famous multi-arched Glenfinnan Viaduct of Harry Potter fame. Further on the great mountains give way to an equally stunning coastline around Arisaig and beyond. The beautiful White Sands of Morar that featured in the film Local Hero, are yet another draw to this spectacular region.

Alternatively, you can simply chill out and enjoy the local area, famed for its wide variety of outdoor pursuits, wildlife and numerous attractions and places of interest to see.

About Us

A Victorian Farmhouse was built around 1865 here at Achnabobane and we are lucky enough to have commanding views of the imposing and majestic Nevis Mountain range. We are just a few miles from Spean Bridge to the North and Fort William to the South, just off the main route to Inverness.

Sadly, no longer to be greeted by Morse or to be more precise, Aranisle Detective Chief Inspector Morse!(Promoted 2005) He was an extremely bright, gentle, playful and a thoroughly loveable Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. Just a little over 14 years old. Morse, passed away on Thursday 4th February 2016. Two new arrivals, now nearly 6 years old and causing absolute havoc, Posy (Nov 2010 -), a tortoiseshell and Rupert (Nov 2010 -), black and white, the kittens are growing up fast and exploring the great outdoors. Morse will be sopleased as the kittens love him to death and he would be most grateful for a little peace and quiet! Elizabeth Helen Ockenden 26-3-47 - 29-08-2012 Hugely missed by Neil and our family.

A very nice warm welcome from Neil the B&B owner. A very nice, clean, warm and welcoming B&B, providing everything that I required for my one nights stay, many thanks. Wonderful views of the Nevis range from the B&B, which is perfectly located for climbing the Ben, North Face or CMD routes. Lovely home produce for the lovely cooked breakfast. Many thanks for the welcome and stay Neil, hopefully I will return to visit in the not to distant future. Kind regards Karl.

Location is excellent. It's so peaceful and quite but still very close to popular tourist attractions (Ben Nevis, Glencoe, Fort William, Viaduct etc). View was beautiful from my room. You can also get a wonderful mountine landscape if you are sitting in the garden. Breakfast was fresly made by the host who is a very lovely man. There are couple of rules to follow but Neil runs the business by his own so it's understandable and he's doing great job.House is tidy, room is clean, bathroom/toilet is neat, bed is very comfortable, there is a quite big safe car park. If you need anything from a supermarket there is an Aldi, M&S not too far from the farmhouse. By the way it's also very easy to find the place. You can't miss it, direction signs on the road which will help you if your sat nav fails. I really enjoyed my time here. I hope I'll be back. There is so many nice places to see around. I would highly recommend this place to those who don't want too many people around, prefer quite cosy nights and appreciate peaceful atmosphere.

Our 5 nights in Spean Bridge were as peaceful as we could have hoped for. It's surrounded by beautiful Scottish countryside dominated by the large hills and peaks. If you get lucky with the weather as we were, it's a walkers paradise. Neil knows his location and has a vast wealth of knowledge on the area so if you are at a lose end, I'm sure he will find something of interest you can do or see. The Old Station Restaurant and Pub is still a train station, serve a mean pint of IPA and a great selection of food fare. We would love to pass thru there again in the not too distant future.

We were walking the GGW and our host Neil, very kindly collected us from Spean Bridge and dropped us back on the trail the following morning. Our room was a good size double with a bedroom sink. The bathroom was closeby. A bath was very welcome for aching legs!Neil cooked a lovely breakfast and made us feel welcome. He runs a tight ship and is very well organised!...Thanks Neil!!

We only stayed one night on route to travelling further up north on holiday. The two adjoining rooms we had we very nice and comfortable and clean. The breakfast was delicious, and Neil our host was a mindful of information and help and we had much in common to talk about. We would most certainly stay again on our next travels to the area.

This is an excellent B&B, a convenient stop off for journeys North.Neil is a very friendly host and the facilities are good.Cooked breakfast excellent. It was a pity that no single room was available as a twin room for one person (without en-suite) was slightly pricey.Enjoyed my stay and meeting Neil.
