Description
The House is a 200-year-old, a traditional farmhouse surrounded by 2 acres of beautiful, organic gardens. We run the site in an environmentally friendly way, aiming to live as sustainably as possible. Our guests invariably love the relaxed and welcoming environment we have created here and our location, nestled on the beautiful Lough Neagh, means that all visitors are but a stone’s throw from the many wonders and activities of the biggest inland lake in Britain and Ireland.

Being members of World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms we welcome volunteers from across the globe to help pick our fruit and vegetables in the Summer.

Rooms

Twin Room : With two comfy single beds which boasts relaxing views of our beautiful garden

Triple Room : With a large comfy double bed and an additional single bed to cater for a total of three visitors.

The Garden

Our pride and joy is the beautiful organic garden at this House. It is the perfect place to relax, pick some fruit or light a barbeque.

It is set in an acre of land. It has a vegetable plot with some raised beds, blackcurrant bushes and a wonderful crop of strawberries. In addition Edwin has planted a variety of native trees, he has a vine growing in the polytunnel, a very productive fig tree on a south-facing wall and a number of fruit trees including apples, pears and plums.

The garden provides many of the fruit and vegetables that are used in the house.

Volunteers

The House has volunteers who come in the summer to help in the organic garden. They come through WWOOF – Worldwide Opportunities on Organic Farms. Our garden depends heavily on the WWOOF volunteers who undertake much of the transplanting, watering and weeding that is required.

Most of our WWOOF volunteers are between 18 and 25 and from other European countries so it is not unusual to hear Spanish, Italian, French or German being spoken in the garden.

When they aren’t working the volunteers will often be found playing games in the garden or on canoes on the lough.

Location

House is located on the southeastern shore of Lough Neagh on the Derrymore Road, B156. As you drive along the Derrymore road heading south you will see the lough on your right. On the left you will see the primary school. After the school there are a couple of bungalows and then a large newly built development of 2-storey houses.

Immediately after the housing development you turn left into our driveway. Our house is not visible from the road, it is about 300m up the drive.

Edwin and Mahvash are very helpful, and treated us like family members. Their house is in a quiet place near the Lough. They told us about their farm, and we bought some delicious blackcurrant jam before we left. We were encouraged by their generosity, and heartily recommend Lisieux House to other visitors.

Very welcoming, very much a farm house feel with chickens in the garden and pizzas on Friday evening. Felt like family guess not paying guests.

Great stay, great host! Edwin even gave us a lift into Moira for dinner and after driving all day myself, it was much appreciated. Thanks again Edwin!

We had a brilliant time at Edwin's - very attentive, offering us home made bread with jam on arrival and taking his time to have a great conversation about the area and his life - would gladly recommend to anyone

Fantastic accommodation, location and host. A stones throw from the loch, in a perfectly tranquil rural setting. Good sized bedroom with private bathroom. Not a bad thing to say, would happily stay there again. Highly recommended.

Edwin was an excellent host, we were made to feel most welcome in his delightful home. The house is located in a peaceful spot only a stone's throw from Lough Neagh, easy to find and represents super value for money. Our room was cosy, well appointed with a comfortable double bed.

Again, english/irish/scottish breakfast are not my favourite ones, but we receive it with love and care and that counts. We really enjoyed having breakfast here, morning conversation, endless coffee (haha.. :) and our host Edwin. Room was spacious and comfortable, surrounding area quiet and relaxing. We even get pizza as we stayed here friday evening for a small talk with Edwin, his partner, friends and neighbours.. It was fantastic opportunity to be part of northern irish society for a short time. Irish people are the friendliest people in the world. Next time i have to bring you something from my country as a thank. Thanks again for everything!

It was a perfect place to stay. We stayed there just one night, but our host made us feel like at home. When we left our suitcases in the bedroom he offered us some tea and homemade bread (it was super tasty). We talked and we learned a lot about him and Irland. The next day we enjoyed a very tasty breakfast he made for us (sausages, eggs, bread, coffee, tea)
