Stunning views with direct access to nature and short walk to local mountain village. The coast is a short drive away with beautiful sandy beaches. Short train ride to Valencia.

The villa has four bedrooms, a large open plan living/dining room, kitchen, two bathrooms, cloakroom and games room. The first-floor master bedroom suite comprises bedroom with one king-size bed, a dressing room and large bathroom . There is air-conditioning in the lounge-dining room and master bedroom suite.

There is a well-equipped kitchen with fridge-freezer, electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher, washing machine and an extensive range of cooking and dining ware.

All the bedrooms are south facing with stunning views, as is the lounge/dining which leads directly onto a covered terrace comprising seating and dining areas. All windows have mosquito nets and electric shutters.

There is a swimming pool and surrounding terrace with sun loungers, additional table and chairs and barbecue. Shady and sunny sitting areas for all times of the day.

The villa sits at the top of the valley and has stunning views with mountains all around. There is direct access to wonderful walking country. From the front door a track can be followed to the summit of Mont Monduver where the mediterranean sunrise can be viewed. With clear visibility the view extends along the coastline, north to Valencia and the mountains beyond and south to Javea (Xabia), and to the east Ibiza.

The villa is located in La Drova, an area of outstanding natural beauty. Our local village is Barx is a five-minute drive or twenty-minute walk away. Barx has a butchers, bakers, supermarkets, pharmacy, wine shop/bar, tobacconist, cafes, bars and a cash machine, as well as dentist, doctors' surgery and gym.

On entering La Drova from Gandia there is a tourist centre and car park on the right which is well worth a visit. Make sure you step up to the viewing platform which gives you a vista all the way down to the Mediterranean, something you don’t see from the road.

Our local town is Gandia, a fifteen-minute drive through the orange groves of Marxuquera. It is a traditional Spanish working town unspoilt by tourism. It has all the facilities you could want. Gandia is a gem of a town, off the international tourist map but well known to Spanish tourists particularly those from Madrid who head to Gandia’s beaches each summer. Gandia lies 55 km south of Valencia and 115 km north of Alicante. Gandia is the second largest city in the Province de Valencia and is the focal point of the region known as La Safor.

The nearest international airports are at Valencia (75 km) and Alicante (125 km).

The motorway AP7/E15 runs close to Gandia with exit no 61 from the south and exit no 60 from the north connecting to the national route N-332 linking all towns along the coast. The N332 effectively operates as a ring road around Gandia. Access to the villa is off the N332 to the CV675 towards Barx. The junctions lie between the two N332 road tunnels, so the Barx exit is always the one immediately after the tunnel regardless of your direction of travel.

Gandia is the commercial centre of La Safor and has all of the services that you need. It is a very traditional working Spanish town. It has always been popular with Spanish tourists but is increasingly attracting tourists from further afield. It has a good range of traditional shops situated along the two main shopping streets which run parallel to each other, Carrer Major and Carrer Duc Carles de Borja.

We particularly like the nearby ‘boulevard’, Passeig de les Germaines, with shops down each side and a large central promenade shaded by trees and interspersed with fountains and benches. This is a good place to stop and have a coffee or tapas.

Gandia has been an important commercial and cultural centre for centuries and was home to the Borja family. There are many historical buildings of note including the Palau Ducal dels Borja and the cathedral, Collegiate Basilica of Gandia. Around the cathedral square (Placa Major) and surrounding alleys there are many excellent cafes and bars and sitting out areas.

The Rio Serpis runs close to the square and main shopping streets. It is pleasant to stroll along part of its promenades or you can drive across to get to the commercial areas outside of the town centre.

There are many supermarkets in the town with Mercadona, Consum, Lidl and Aldi well represented and offering good value. There is a huge Carrefour across in the commercial area and this has the full range of groceries and household goods.

Valencia city centre is about a 55 km drive (45 minutes). Alternatively you can catch a train from Gandia station (two per hour) straight to the city central station in Valencia. The train takes approximately 55 minutes. Gandia station is a few minutes’ walk from the centre. There is parking at the station for €5 per day. Opposite the station is the tourist office with English speaking staff.

Gandia is really two places, town and beach. The beach lies about 3km from the town and this represents a win-win situation; the town retains its charm and culture and the beach functions as a popular tourist resort.

There are pleasant walks around the marina and along the promenade. We recommend you walk to the end of the harbour jetty for exceptional views back across Gandia and the mountains behind and up and down the coast. We have seen dolphins when walking along the jetty.

Playa de Gandia has about 6km of blue flag beaches. The main northern beach is the most developed with hotels, cafes, tourist shops and night clubs; It is a lovely clean and well maintained beach with kilometres of golden sand with excellent facilities including beach cafes and a promenade for walking or cycling (there are bike hire and electric scooter hiring facilities).

To the north there is Playa Can and Playa de l’Ahuir (dog and naturalist beaches respectively). The section midway between the main tourist beach, La Playa Norte and the next resort Xeraco is particularly beautiful and will be quieter than the Playa Norte. At the Xeraco end there is a popular beach bar/café. The beaches are backed by sand dunes, have good coastal vistas and stunning views inland to the mountains. Keep heading north and you will come to the resort of Cullera, easily reached by road or rail.

Going south there is Grau de Gandia, this is the old port area which still has a working fishing fleet and warehouses. Between it and the beach is the marina, Club Nautico, with berths for about 400 boats. There is a fish auction on Friday.

Further inland and a short drive from Barx you will come to Simat with its huge monastery. As you come down the mountains into the valley you can head to the commercial town of Alzira or the tourist town of Xtiva with its stunning castle and views (well worth the effort to walk up to it).

Back on the coast there is easy access to the Costa Blanca resorts such as Denia, Javea and Moraira and the beautiful coastline in between. There is a ferry from Denia to Ibiza, and also a service which operates from Grau de Gandia in the summer.

The jewel in the crown is Valencia, Spain’s third largest city and many people’s favourite. It is only a 50 minute drive or 55 minutes on the train from Gandia. It is well worth a visit. Be warned, in the height of summer it is likely to be very hot..

Payment Policy
There is a €150 cleaning fee per stay. 25% on booking confirmation. 75% 60 days prior to arrival.
Cancellation Policy
Cancellation policy (General): if you cancel more than 90 days prior to arrival date you will receive a 100% refund. A 50% refund will be paid for cancellations between 60 and 90 days prior to arrival. No refund is payable if the cancellation is within 60 days of arrival.

Over the years we have stayed in many villas across numerous locations and I have to say, this is right up there with the very best. This is a modern villa with all the facilities, comfort and space that you need and yet it’s feels homely. For us though it was the location that made our holiday. Waking up to the wonderful mountain views, listening to the birdsong with a freshly brewed coffee, it was so special. We rarely used our car as we enjoyed regular scenic walks to the village for coffee and to pick up a few essential groceries. There are splendid views everywhere walking out from the villa (especially on the uphill lane to the summit). Suffice to say, we definitely plan to return.
