About our Village - Carracastle

Carracastle is a small rural village in County Mayo in the West of Ireland. Found off the beaten track, Carracastle is a true Irish village away from the tourist crowds. It is roughly half way between the Mayo town of Charlestown and the Roscommon town of Ballaghaderreen. The area has an estimated population of 725 people and has a church, community centre, shop/pub, national and pre-school. Join us in our community and discover real rural Ireland

Traditional Farm Stay County Mayo

A lot of love went into the building of our family's 19th century traditional Irish farm cottage accommodation. We invite you to stay the night and experience Ireland how it should be. Feel the cosy warmth of a traditional style Irish cottage whilst also enjoying the comfort of a more modern rural Ireland in the heart of County Mayo. Our cottage features a traditional stonework facade, an original 19th century hearth and fireplace and lots of trinkets from days gone by.

History of an Irish Cottage

The Ireland West Farm Stay Cottage has its roots in 19th century rural Mayo. The cottages foundations predate the great famine of 1845 and has been restored and renovated to create a unique farm stay experience.

The Restored Interior

The Ireland West Farm Stay Cottage interior combines the intricacies and tradition of 19th century Ireland with the elegance, modernity and comfort sought after by the present day traveller. Stay in Ireland West Farm Stay and you are experiencing real rural Ireland with a modern twist.

The Hearth

The centrepiece of Ireland West Farm Stay is the hearth. Like Ireland of days gone by, the hearth is the heart of the cottage. Here is where you take time to relax around the fire, telling stories and singing songs of days gone by.

The Stonework

The stonework of the Ireland West Farm Stay cottage has been created masterfully by expert stone worker Eddie Joe Dooney. From the lintels to the hearth stones and to the stone facade, Ireland West Farm Stay exudes traditional Ireland through its ancient stone work.

The Bedrooms
