It’s owners have been successfully running this establishment for over fifteen years which now boasts an international clientele from over 15 countries.

Ancient documents testify the existence of the houses as early as 1720 when it was a refuge for monks. The owners, Jimmy and Concetta, have created a refined agriturismo – relais of thei farm house providing guests with a high level of comfort whilst mantaining and respecting all the buildings original features through a loving restoration.

Contrada Durano is located in the southern part of the Marches in the Province of Ascoli Piceno. It enjoys a quiet hilly location 500 meters above sea level. With panoramic views of the Marchigian hills to the Adriatic coast. It is part of the municipality of Smerillo a small village, once fortified, dominating two valleys. Even today, this country enjoys an agricultural rhythm of life elsewhere that has disappeared. For those who need or want a lot of ‘fun’ we do not recommend this place.

Within walking distance of the house there is a riding school where they teach the American mountain and organize horseback riding in the area. Within a few minutes by car you will reach the heart of the Sibillini Mountains National Park where you can make series of hiking.

Owners will be happy to provide you with various excursions, show detailed maps and walk descriptions. The area is a constellation of small and beautiful medieval centers that are worth a visit. Many of these houses works of inestimable value such as the works of the 15th century Crivelli painters kept in the church of the nearby village of Monte San Martino. During the summer and fall there are countless local festivals from small village festivals to medieval scenes events, partying to the lyrical season of the nearby town of Macerata.

Many local wineries are also open to the public and allow tasting of local wines as well as purchases. Despite its rural location, shopping can be particularly interesting since many leading fashion and footwear companies have productions in ‘outlet’ areas where they can make great purchases such as Todd’s, Prada, Nazareno Gabrielli and so on. Then on the warmer days Contrada Durano is only 40 ‘from small pleasant beaches to the sea where besides bathing you can enjoy excellent fresh fish dinners. Always nearby and alternatively there are whitewashed lakes where in the mountain frame you can enjoy the clean fresh water.
